Senior Electrical Engineer Peter McGarley specialises in electrical design and power system analysis with 6 years’ experience in the renewables industry prior to joining Applied Superconductor. In this time Peter has had a focus on offshore renewables and offshore transmission systems and has worked on a number of wind farm projects in the UK. Project highlights include designing, building and commissioning one of the first grid connected tidal power generators in the UK and a study for the European Commission looking at the design of a meshed offshore transmission system interconnecting European countries in the North and Baltic Seas and connecting offshore renewables. Peter has also worked on small scale Scottish off-grid power systems integrating PV, hydro, wind and battery storage on small island network and is a member of both the IET and Cigré UK.
