Dr. Malcolm Kennedy

Dr. Malcolm Kennedy is an individual well known in the power industry as a valued advisor, not only to utilities, but also to government and the regulator Ofgem. In the 1980s he led the Merz team advising the Department of Energy and the Scottish Office on technical aspects of the privatisation of the UK electricity industry. In the 1990s he was a Member of the Electricity Panel of the Monopolies and Mergers Commission. Other roles were Member of the DTI / Ofgem Distributed Generation Coordination Group, President of the IEE, Chairman of National Energy Action, Member of the Ofgem / DBERR Electricity Networks Strategy Group and a Member of the IET’s Energy Sector Panel.  Prior to his retirement, he was Chairman of PB Power Ltd and is currently a Non-Executive Director of the National Renewable Energy Centre (Narec) and of Renewable Energy Generation Limited. Dr. Kennedy was awarded CBE in 2000 and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
